How to Write a Conclusion when Writing an English Essay
How to Write a Conclusion when Writing an English Essay

Most writers have trouble writing a good conclusion. One exercise that might help you write a good conclusion is to wait until after you've written a good first draft. Try moving the introductory paragraph , or the one with the thesis statement , to the end of the draft. Write a new introduction. The revise the whole essay so that each paragraph flows and so the whole paper has coherence

In order to write a good concluding paragraph, you must write a good paragraph. Your English must be correct, the vocabulary strong and fresh, and the word choices precise with grammar check, spell check, a powerful dictionary and thesaurus, Its writing enhancement tool suggests words that will keep your writing strong and fresh

The conclusion is often simply one concluding paragraph, although in longer works, such as books, it might be many paragraphs or even pages long. The conclusion provides a sense of closure--that the interest or question "opened" by the introduction has now been "closed" by the body of the paper. The concluding paragraph makes it clear how this is true, and uses some way of indicating completeness of the writing

All writing requires complete sentences, good grammar, perfect spelling. In addition, its all-in-one-solution provides a powerful dictionary for precise language, a thesaurus that will help keep your writing fresh, and word enhancement features that suggests words to strengthen your writing. Each concluding paragraph will leave readers satisfied with your writing when you use WhiteSmoke

In many scientific fields, but certainly in other types of writing as well, the conclusion indicates relevant questions for further study or exploration. While this might seem to contradict the idea of closure, in fact, the closure on the article or essay usually occurs just before this suggestion, and this suggestion of further research areas serves to provide a large sense of completeness. In many topics of public concern, this "further research" suggestion takes a different form--a call for further awareness of an issue or problem

The conclusion often makes clear how or why this topic is significant. It is highly unusual to introduce new ideas, new arguments, or new evidence in the conclusion. Frequently, a conclusion will connect to the introduction--by answering questions raised there, or through writing devices such as returning to a story or anecdote used in the introduction. In all cases, the purpose is to release the reader from the act of reading and return the reader to the world with some sense of having gained something from reading

Five common ways of concluding a paper:

Use the devices for introductory paragraphs, such as providing an interesting anecdote or relevant statistics, but avoid using the same exact device in both the introduction and the conclusion.
Summarize the main points of the paper. Do not just re-hash them though! Find a way to re-invent the ideas stated in the introduction and body of your paper.
Show the significance relative to the reader.
Call for awareness and/or action.
Point to the future by making suggestions or offer solutions.

What to avoid in a concluding paragraph

Do not go off the track. Avoid introducing an entirely new idea or adding a fact that belongs in the body of the paper. Your conclusion should flow from the rest of the paper. An effective conclusion should not detract from the central message of the paper.
Do not just reword your introduction. Avoid simply listing the main idea in each topic sentence or restating the thesis. While a summary can refer to those points, it must tie into what was covered in the essay. A good test is to check if the introduction and conclusion are interchangeable. If they are, you need to revise. Remember: Don't repeat ...re-invent!
Do not announce what you have done. Avoid statements such as "In this paper I have tried to show that..."
Do not apologize. Avoid casting doubt on your material by making statements such as "I may not have thought out all the arguments, but ..." or "Even though I am not an expert, I feel that what I have said is correct

How to write a conclusion?

* Conclusion is the most important part of your report. It is a brief summary-paragraph, about half a page. You must write your own conclusion, after completing the data collection and analysis. It must be written as the last piece and attached after data tables and graphs.

* Conclusion should state things that are unique for your investigation which can be accomplished by including values of the experimentally determined physical quantities. Just remember that you cannot write your conclusion without completing your experiments or investigations. General statements like "I have determined the densities of given solids" is not acceptable.
* You may start your conclusion by re-stating the purpose with appropriate changes. Then you need to briefly state (don’t repeat procedure) how you conducted the experiment and collected the data. Continue this with summarizing your results, referring to the data tables and graphs when appropriate, and answer the purpose. Then you may discuss about some of the difficulties you had, errors and their possible causes, and suggestions for improvement. Describe your reasoning using physics terminology and principles. You should explain as completely as possible what goes through your mind that leads you to your conclusion. While we encourage you to discuss the investigations with your partners, your conclusion must be your own thought
