ملخص بالعربي والانجليزي لقصة الوحش في الغابة The Beast in the Jungle
تروي احاث القصة عن ان بطل القصة جون مارشر يتعرف مرة اخرى مع السيدة ماي بارترام, والتي كان يعرفها من قبل عشر سنوات, والتي تعرف سره الغريب وذلك السر هو انه تم القبض عليه مع الاعتقاد بان حياته سوف تُعرف ببعض الاحداث المثيرة والكارثية, مستلقاه في انتظاره مثل الوحش في الغابة.
وقد قررت ماي بارترام ان تشتري منول في لندن بالاموال التي ورثتها عن عمتها الكبيرة, وأن تقضي ايامها فيه مع مارشر, في انتظار ما يحمله القدر من اجله بكل فضول.
مارشر الشخص ذو القدر الميئوس منه قد اعتقد انه قد مُنع من الزواج حتي لا يُعرض زوجته لنفس مصيره البائس.
كان مارشر يقوم بدعوة ماي بارترام للمسرح واحيانا يدعوها لتناول العشاء من وقت لاخر, لكنه لا يسمح لها بالتقرب منه. بينما هو كان يجلس مكتوف الايدي ويجعل اجمل سنين عمره تمر, وظل يستهين بـ ماي بارترام ايضا, حتى الوصول لنهاية القصة حيث تعلم حينها انه كان يجب عليه ان يتجاهل سوء الحظ الكبير في حياته, وتعلم انه تجاهله لحب إمرأة طيبة ماهو الا هاجس مزيف منه
John Marcher, the protagonist, is reacquainted with May Bartram, a woman he knew ten years earlier, who remembers his odd secret: Marcher is seized with the belief that his life is to be defined by some catastrophic or spectacular event, lying in wait for him like a "beast in the jungle." May decides to buy a house in London with the money she inherited from a great aunt, and to spend her days with Marcher, curiously awaiting what fate has in store for him. Marcher is a hopeless fatalist, who believes that he is precluded from marrying so that he does not subject his wife to his "spectacular fate".
He takes May to the theater and invites her to an occasional dinner, but does not allow her to get close to him. As he sits idly by and allows the best years of his life to pass, he takes May down as well, until the denouement where he learns that the great misfortune of his life was to throw it away, and to ignore the love of a good woman, based upon his preposterous sense of foreboding.تحليل كامل لـ قصة The Beast in the Jungle by Henry James
